Spring Has Sprung — And So Have the Opportunities

Spring is almost officially here and with it comes new opportunities.

I’m about to kick off the traditional submission process for The Great Plastic Caper with a couple of upcoming Pitch Sessions to traditional publishers. What’s a pitch session and how is it different from a submission?

With a submission you usually fill in a query form and send in your manuscript to a publisher or agent where it can languish for a long time (like months) before they may look at it (publishers and agents are very busy people).

With a Pitch, you get a few minutes in front of a real person to try an persuade them to want to read your story, and if they like it, you’re allowed to send it directly to them.

There’s no promises that it’ll get picked up and be published, but Pitch sessions can help get you to the top of the slush pile and get your manuscript noticed. Fingers crossed I get some positive results!
